Because they have to go back to school in the morning! Man, I hated that feeling when I was school-age...in fact I kind of even hate it now that I have a kindergartner. Maybe because it's a Monday. I hate Mondays. That's why I work Tues - Thurs so I can ease into my week. I've been trying not to get those post-Christmas blues. I'm always a little melancholy after Christmas day is through. New Year's Eve is one of my least favorite holidays (and I love holidays). I don't drink; I'm broke by this point; I'm super fat from all the crap I've eaten and I always felt like it was a competition when I was younger to see who had the cutest date, the best plans and who was staying out the latest. Well I don't have to worry about the latter part - I'm an old boring married person now with which comes some perks. You get to stay home, wear your fleece and even go to bed at 10:30 if you want. This year was actually pretty fun. We had some nieces and nephews over for Wii and fortune cookies. In fact, we must have had a decent time because for the next several nights, we did the same thing over and over...play cards, play Wii, snack, stay up late.
Now it's over until we bust out the big party plans for MLK day...

Ellen always hated January. I want an invite to your shin-dig next year. I was in bed by 9:45.
