Jammed Packed and One Picture

Now that Officer Long has one of those crazy schedules we have to be ready to fly by the seat of our pants. The Big Boy, Jameson started 3rd grade today so last week when I realized that Nate had 3 days off, I took 3 days off and we began our whirlwind week.

Tuesday: Boondocks for their $12 Tues special. 3 things I learned...1) you totally get your money's worth. Loved it! 2) Jameson really can ride the bumper boats 28 times in a row and 3) simulated roller coaster rides and fog from laser tag do not mix.

Wednesday: Swimming! 3 things I learned...1) that's great that you slathered your young ones with sunblock, why don't you do the same mom 2) Carter's zero fear extends to large bodies of water and 3) swimming still makes you ravenous even at age 38.

Thursday: Clark Planetarium & Color Me Mine. 3 things I learned this day...1) Officer Long enjoys painting ceramics as much as his son Jameson 2) So many great Christmas/Birthday ideas besides video games after visiting the Planetarium's gift shop, like a rock tumbler! 3) Jameson purchased one of these (and I want one too). Fun little stress relievers and creativity builders...it kept him entertained for hours.
Friday - Sunday: Last minute decision to attend the Betenson Family Reunion in southern Utah. Nate was working all weekend and I wasn't all that eager to drive 5 hours with my two young'ns. But then Aunt Brenda said she'd take Carter in her vehicle and we ended up caravaning to Kanab. So happy that I changed my mind and did it (and thank you Aunt Brenda for dealing with Carter's sensitive gag reflex issue...sorry!). The weather was sizzling and Jameson and I ended up with sunburns but we had a blast. The reunion was at a new park complete with splash pad (see only picture below...maybe my brother will share all of his with me) and we were able to see a cousin from England and all wear our "Betenson Bunch" [Brady Bunch] tees, a gift from my Dad. This past weekend also hosted Western Legends which is a 3-day celebration that the town of Kanab throws to celebrate Little Hollywood. Booths, food, freshly brewed root beer in gourmet flavors and all the geodes and sandstone any 8 year could ever want! Wished we could have spent a day or two more so we could visit with the Hollands... I'm thinking a lovely autumn visit would be the perfect follow-up.

It's amazing how those small towns can throw a party. It looks like the sunburn was worth it!

Hey, sorry we never met up with you. You should have come on down with the girls and had a sleep over with us. It was a blast. Glad you had fun here in good ole K-town. So sorry our schedules were crazy. If we'd known you were comin' we'd have changed them.

Come again soon. Your welcome to stay with us anytime.
