The Huz admitted to me that when he was younger he thought the words to "Two of a Kind" by Garth Brooks - "Working on a full house" were "Working on a whore house". Then there was the time I caught my roommate from college singing "There's a little black spot on the sun today...I'm so afraid" which is actually "There's a little black spot on the sun today..."That's my soul up there" (The Police - King of Pain). Not long after my Elvira debacle my sister had me repeat the words I had just sung after watching the opening credits for Sesame Street. "Family, neighbors, friends - Let's square wee wee" instead of the original lyrics "Family, neighbors, friends - That's where we meet". I'm just thankful she caught it before I headed to PM Kindergarten singing those words.
Well I had a similar experience a few months ago. I know we've all done it. Thought a song said something else other than the artist's words. There are entertaining websites dedicated just to this. Go here or here to see if any of the songs you used to sing are found here. Maybe even the lyrics you thought (and still do) are here.
We watch a great deal of Cartoon Network at our house, therefore I have the
opportunity to see commercials that are televised here and perhaps not other stations. Case in point: Smoker Man. Have you seen any of these spots with their catchy tunes? If not, definitely go here. I'm not the only one that was singing their song, The Boy was too. "Smoker man is the one who can". Problem is, the jingle is actually "Smoker man is the one who can'T". So here I am in a moral dilemma - while I understand that the TV spot was just trying to poke fun of a so-called super hero that runs out of breath and can't save anyone, I was thinking, kids are going to be running around singing 'Smoker man is the one who can'. Do children really grasp the irony in this?

LOL, I have a co-worker who still sings the wrong lyrics to songs all the time. When I correct him he looks thoughtful and then says, "Yeah, that makes more sense." Drives me crazy!
OK, had my giggle...thanks! And that's stupid because obviously "smoker man is the one who can" definitely rhymes and "man" and "can't" do not - come on people! Also, did you know that Prince sings about a "little red corvette" and not "pay the rent collect." I was in college when I figured that one out.
The song that say's "when smokey sings" meaning Smokey Robinson, and I always sang " when smoke gets in" till Bill corrected me.
we've had a good laugh about that one.
I thought the Elvira song said "El Fire Up" My cousin and I used to sing it at the top of our lungs while swinging. No one told us. - Nicole
