What a weekend!

It all started on Friday morning when I reminded Nate that he was the one that needed to accompany Jameson to the dentist - because Dad is the one that can make him sit in the chair by himself and proceed without incident through the appointment. When the pair got there, it was decided The Boy's baby tooth needed to come out as the permanent one was forcing its way in an extremely crooked fashion.

I knew something was up as I was at home getting ready for the day and Nate had been texting me appointment updates. These stopped. I knew the tooth was coming out and things were not pretty.

When the two got home, Jameson was in tears and reminded his father that he would never again speak to him. Better him than me, right?

Since I volunteer in Jameson's class on Fridays, I checked him into school. He refused to go to lunch with his classmates because his mouth was numb. So he sat with me while I stuffed homework folders. He pulled out a book and was showing me his newly honed reading skills when all of a sudden he collapsed on the floor. For a split second I thought he was joking around but when I looked over and saw him motionless and his eyes rolled back in his head, I panicked. This was the worst thing I've witnessed thus far. We were all alone in his classroom and I ran over and knelt down calling his name. Then I yelled for help. A sweet little first grader came in and asked what she could do. I asked her to please go to the office and tell them to call 911. Jameson was still not responding to my pleas and tears. As admin staff came in, he started to come to and began to cry, holding his forehead because he had hit it on the way down. He didn't make much sense and he would not respond to my questions. School staff did not seem to think he needed an ambulance so I scooped him up and rushed him to his pediatrician.

In the car, I called his pediatrician and was told to proceed to the Insta Care. I drove to the home Nate was building a retaining wall at and honked and screamed for him. He ran over and I told him briefly through tears what had happened. He got in the car and we headed for the Insta Care. Upon arrival, we were encouraged to go to Primary Children's Medical Center. A reassuring nurse took The Boy's vitals and instructed one of us to sit in the back seat with our son as to keep him awake. Nate drove and I talked to Jameson. He was the most ghostly grey I have ever seen. The backseat wreaked of vomit from him and I just kept stroking his face telling him that I loved him. He rarely would respond to me and I was terrified that it would happen again.

We arrived at the hospital and they quickly took us into a triage room (thank you Insta Care for calling ahead and letting them know that we were on our way). Six hours, 2 cardiologists, 3 ER docs, a cherry slushie later, we were discharged. An ECG and EKG found a possible heart arrhythmia but believe this is related to the fainting instead of a heart problem causing the fainting. We go back in a week for a follow up but feel that he's a healthy boy.

Needless to say, I did not sleep that night. It didn't help that The Boy asked, "What if I don't wake up in the morning?" I must have checked on him 50 times that night and tried to no avail to rid my mind of seeing him on his classroom floor with eyes rolled back in his head.

He seems to be just fine now. Hungry as ever and a little bit tired.

The next day brought a baby shower. My dear friend, Erin planned and executed the most delicious get-together at our home. We were blessed with many dear friends and family members who made our house swell with love. Generous guests brought kind words, favorite memories, updates and their appetites.

I need to get the pictures from my friend since our poor digital camera is broken. I have just a few of the some of the beautiful tulips, candy smorgasbord and "binkie tree" that were offered.

This party was just what we needed as a family. Jameson was excited for the shower, albeit he could not comprehend why a group of people would all "shower" together in preparation for a baby. But now I'm exhausted and Criminal Minds is going to be on in a few minutes so I'm going to go...and besides this post has become far too long...

Oh my goodness!!! What a traumatic experience, Nina! Seriously. It reminds me of when Elle had a seizure last summer. My own heart wasn't the same after that terrifying experience. I'm sure he'll be ok.

And your shower was absolutely lovely. I highly enjoyed myself. :)

Oh I'm so sorry about your scare. When it comes to your kids, I swear it is so darn scary. When Devin cracked his head open, I did the same all night checking on him thing. I'm a little neurotic as it is especially after the whole Mia life. I'm so sympathizing with you right now. I hope that you find all well in the end. Kids! Thinking of you, Nicole

Wow! I am so glad that Jameson is ok. What a scary experience. That is the last thing an 8 1/2 month pregnant lady needs! You are a good Mom!

It seems you were in the right place with him at school that day, and that he wasn't out on the playground or something with friends. Hope you've recouped your sleep since then.
