If the shoe doesn't fit...still go for it!

I purchased these sweet little satin shoes for Carter's baby blessing. They were about 2-inches too big for his little feet. So he wore socks and still looked cute.

When it was all said and done, Nate and I were exhausted. He commented that it was a relief that we would not be having anymore babies to bless in our future because we both get a little neurotic about our house and yard when we have VIPs come for special events. However, he got to thinking about other special occasions like Jameson's baptism that will be coming up in a few months. I wouldn't have it any other way. We purchased our home with the open living/dining room to accommodate our large families. Love it.

On Saturday I went over and visited with my Dad. He's been dealing with the chemo and radiation at the same time. He's been pretty miserable. I told him that I wanted him at Carter's blessing more than anything but that I understand if he couldn't make it. He said, "I just don't know if I can." My mom said that Sunday morning came and he was focused; he told her that he just needed a nap and the he could get ready and go. He made it and it meant the world to me. I had tears streaming down my face from the sweet blessing that Nate gave our infant son and tears streaming for the fact that my father was sitting next to us (the blue thing he's wearing is the chemo pack). I didn't have any tissues at church (what's with that?) so I grabbed one of Carter's burp cloths and wiped my face down.
I will not share many details here about the blessing because of its sacred nature but one part that especially touched me was Nate blessing Carter to continue to bring joy to those around him; that people would feel happiness to be in his presence.

After the blessing, we gathered at the Long home for homemade Cafe Rio salads and cuddles with Carter. Nate's parents who are serving a mission in Washington state traveled the 10-hour drive to be there just for us. Grandma Lois made his darling white tux (complete with tux tails)and handstitched a satin quilt. Grandma JoAnn generously purchased most of the food that was eagerly put away by hungry stomachs. Thanks Grandmas! It was wonderful to have our home filled with loving family.
Yes we were sleep deprived with aching muscles Sunday night but oh so happy.
And nothing says B-A-B-Y B-L-E-S-S-I-N-G like a big game of BINGO complete with All A Dollar prizes!
