As I was perusing the Easter candy aisle the other day, I happened upon these babies. Being pro-coconut I knew I needed to sample one. Honestly, I was not expecting much...afterall, I prefer real coconut - like the actual flakes for texture - to a cream (or creme as Dove likes to say). So right there in the store, I opened up the package and tried one. Oh my, my, my. The epitome of chocolate and coconut creaminess.
So that was last week. This week I happened over to the Easter candy aisle again to pick up a package for work. None. Target had their Dove chocolate egg section with a big, fat hole where the coconut creme eggs are supposed to be. I felt a little anxious but proceeded to the next retailer. Shop Ko = none. This is when sheer panic (and a little neurosis) set in. I started thinking, maybe everyone out there is on to my little find, maybe Dove had a problem with manufacturing and they are no longer available, I need to find more and buy an entire case. (Because, yes I may not have time to fold my laundry but I do have time to obsess over chocolate.)
Not to worry folks, I went to Smith's Marketplace and was reassured to find an ample supply there. Bought 3 packages and told people at work to only eat them if A) they really like coconut and B) were truly going to appreciate allowing them to slowly melt in their mouths. I got a few looks, but really...people know me at work.
