Curveball

Maternity leave was going along just swimmingly. In fact, I would say in the words of Pam Beesly-Halpert (The Office), "It rocked." Life has a funny way of presenting things we do not expect. These events remind me that there is a greater purpose and a reason for all things; some I understand, some I do not. My dear father, Wade was just diagnosed with esophageal cancer. This diagnosis came after several days at Huntsman Cancer Institute. We are all devastated and probably in shock right along with my Dad. The cancer is an extremely lethal type and he will begin chemo and radiation treatment right after Memorial Day.

One thought that has come to me is that perhaps the reason it took us 7 years to have Carter here in our family is because he needed to come at this time. A little healer of hurting hearts; at a time when our family will need it most.

Thank you for the kind thoughts and especially the prayers that you have offered and will continue to offer. I have not been great at returning phone calls recently. Spending many hours at the hospital, I felt I needed to devote some time to my sweet little family here at home. My boys need me.

Oh Nina! I'm so sorry. My own dad is going through chemo, too. I'm so glad Carter can give some comfort.

I'm so sorry you are having to go through this. As a nurse, I am so amazed at what they can do in this day and age that they couldn't do even a couple of years ago for cancer. Hang in there and keep enjoying your cute little family.
